Letter from the Director - Apr 2017

Happy Spring! April not only brings us warmer weather but also the military tradition of celebrating the Military Child. As you may know, April is the month of the Military Child where we celebrate the accomplishments and sacrifices of our military children. Across the entire world, the military community will be honoring our children in very creative ways. This special celebration is a legacy of former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger and was established to underscore the important role children play in the Armed Forces community. Currently, there are 215,000 children/youth registered in 69 CYS programs throughout 192 Child Development Centers and 157 school-age, middle school, and teen centers across the world. Care of military children sustains our fighting force, and strengthens the health, security, and safety of our nation’s families and communities. This is a month set aside to take time to applaud our children for their service to this Nation. Please join me in thanking our children for their resilience, strength, and enthusiasm for their family, the Army, and of course, our country.
Across Family and Morale, Welfare & Recreation you will find a myriad of activities specifically designed to honor your family. Enjoy the warmer weather and your family!
